Not to sound alarmist, but....

So, if you read some of the Russian blogs in regards to what is going on in Georgia, then there is some scary shit going on.

While we are screwing around obsessing with tire pressure trying to make the world a "greener" place, the Russians and Putin are seizing power in a big way. Naturally, the equivocation of the French and our other European allies have exacerbated an already dangerous situation. The window for meaningful action where we could have provided some meaningful aid to Georgia has already closed. Now, it looks like Georgia, who has been a strong ally, is going to get chopped. While I certainly do not think that the soveriegnty of Georgia is worth many American lives, putting a check on Putin's ambition is worth some measure of action. THat Tyrannical c*cksucker needs to be put in a hurt locker. Frankly,it would not take much; a quick, violent intervention to make the Russian expedition costly, then we start leveraging the international community *after* the Russian plans have not gone according to plan.

Sadly, I think that things will get worse before they get better. The west will debate and wring hands while Russia acts. We may be looking at another world war. Not kidding. I am not some sort of a survivalist nut, but I am starting to think that it is time to start preparing for hard times.
