Evolution; Improvise, adapt, and survive, or ......Don't

posted Thu, 10/27/05

From instapundit, I have found that Dennis Hastert has started a blog. From his single first post, it looks like he is actually trying to use the medium of the blogosphere as a way to communicate. It would appear that he has hit upon the idea that maybe, just maybe, this wild and chaotic mass of communication may be the way to go. Now, if you think about it, it's a pretty good idea. After all, unlike the MSM, you can't really be misquoted or taken out of context. You can say exactly what you mean to say without having to worry about how the loyal opposition in the editing room will twist your words against you. It will also be a way for him to explain why we see what we see going on. Unfortunately, there are no comments, and I must admit that it would be a bad idea since you would have tons of trolls from DU and gabby supporters flooding the comments, and drowning out any sort of rational debate. the other option would be for him to screen commments, which would require a staff on my dime, and would change the whole thing into an absolutely self-aggrandizing effort. Anyway, we shall see what happens with this. It sure would be nice if more politicians let us have a peek into what they are thinking.

In other news, I leave for the NoR shoot tomorrow. D6 is on call this weekend, so I am going to end my vacation with a bang. I am going to bring a lot of ammo since I forsee this turning into a real high-volume shooting experience. I will take my digital camera and try to capture as many shots as I can. The Gun Guy has invited me to stay with his crew on Saturday, and I am tempted. The other option is to just camp out in the bed of the truck, which actually sounds appealing as well. I think I will just play it by ear.  I need to pick up some stogies and whiskey, though.
