First; because Bush refused to use his veto power to advance the conservative agenda while he had a friendly congress in order to (I assume) buy support from the dems, he now is forced to use it against a hostile one.
Second: I noticed that whenever the Democrats mention their intentions concerning the war in Iraq, what I always hear is that they "want to end the war." What I never hear is that they "want to win the war."I think that this is both a crucial and telling difference. Recently, Harry Reid lamented that the war is lost. Under Democrat leadership, that is the only option they will permit.
Third: Bush could have slammed the Dems during his presser by stating the following...
"This funding bill that the democrats have put on my desk, with it's requirement for withdrawal is a slap in the face of every man and woman who ever served or died in the uniform of military service because what the Democrat-controlled congress is saying with it is that they support American troops.... but only if they surrender."
